PVC HELP

Forgive me. I'm sure that this question has been asked numerous times but I need quidance. I just retrieved some Morgans from a safe deposit box and was broken hearted to find a favorite CC dollar with what appears to be PVC damage (green). The pieces are stored in 2X2's which are supposed to be PVC free. Is there anything that I can do to safely remove the residue?

Soak the coins in 100% pure acetone (and only 100% pure) for a while then rinse with either more acetone or distilled water. Then soak in acetone again briefly and let air dry. Acetone evaporates very quickly so no need to dry it with clothe or paper.
