The following three, mint state semi-key Washington quarters are for sale to Board members. I do not have these listed on my web site, nor do I have them on ebay. They will be available to Board members only for the next few days. They are as follows-
1936-S NGC MS64; A completely white, never dipped coin. The coin has very slight, original patina on it. The obverse is MS65 all the way with a milling mark in the hair underneath the "R" of "LIBERTY". The reverse also looks at least MS65, however, there is a milling mark behind the eagle's head and another mark on the eagle's neck. I believe it is the mark on the neck that precluded an MS65 grade. If I sold this coin raw I would grade it MS65 without hesitation. This coin is offered slightly above Greysheet, as are all the pieces offered here, but is truly superb for the grade. It has only been submitted once for grading. Greysheet "Ask" is $145, this coin is $160. ON HOLD.
1937-S NGC MS64; Another completely white coin with a blasty white surface. There are some trivial marks in the obverse field that account for the grade as well as one under Washington's ear. The reverse is MS66 with a single mark on the top half of the eagle's breast. Greysheet "Ask" is $145, this coin is $155. ON HOLD.
1937-S PCGS MS65; This coin has superb, light blue and rose toning on both obverse and reverse. The best way to describe it is that it looks like there are light blue and rose clouds moving through the coin. The slab is a little scuffy and made imaging the coin quite difficult, the surfaces appear to be MS65/66. The scan can only hint at what the coin really looks like, it is far nicer in hand. Greysheet "Ask" is $225, this coin is $280. ON HOLD.
I realize that two of the three coins are NGC coins and not PCGS coins, however, I was going to write the thread anyway with only the single PCGS coin and so I thought that it was appropriate enough to include the NGC coins since many people have Registry sets on both sites. I also realize that these are not finest known, pop 1 coins but I don't think that this should matter; most folks with Registry sets don't have finest known, pop 1 coins in their sets. They should strive to have high end coins for the grade with tons of eye appeal. In that way, these coins are more than adequate for a Registry set. If anyone has a problem with this I suggest that you let the thread sink and simply PM me with a complaint. Anyone interested in the coins please send me a PM.
I am a Life Memeber of the ANA and offer a 14 day return on all coins, no questions asked. Thank you.
