talk of litigation get you that number!?image

I'd cancel my account if they would do something like they did to you to my account.

C'mon.....it's not that tough. Probably only took you an hour or two to find that, correct? imageimage

You should have went with the wire transfer on the $14k, you wouldn't have had any problems. As soon as you get Paypal involved with that amount of money, you are stuck with their rules. Lots of verification at that point. Good Luck!

  • Did you find out why they froze your account?
  • Is your posting the phone number akin to that urban legend where the housewife gets ticked off at Neiman Marcus and posts some cookie recipe on the internet?

  • Most online companies do not post their phone numbers, cause they know how pissed we are with them. Ive dealt with many online companies in the past that provided no physical services and in the past year all of them have removed their phone numbers and are only able to be contacted by email.

And I thought it was just me. I sold a $10K coin about a year ago on ebay. Thought using Paypal would be safe. Nearly lost the money and the coin. What a disaster!

    But rules what?

Or did you forget to type the last word? Paypal rules suc*
  • I thought we had been through this already:

    1) Don't use paypal for > $1000 transactions
    2) Don't keep more than a few hundred dollars in your paypal account
    3) Have a separate checking account that you sweep PayPal money into or allow PayPal to take money out of.
    4) Have yet another checking account that you use as your "real" checking account that is NOT linked to PayPal.
    5) Take money out of the "PayPal ONLY" checking account once it gets over a few hundred dollars.

So, no matter what, you are only exposed by the money in the PayPal account and this "PayPal only" checking account.
I can't imagine using PayPal for large transactions - isn't it worth a wire transfer at some point?

  • Don't doubt ANY horror stories or fault ANY advice but:

    1. PayPal's phone number is on their website. I've had it from day one.
    2. I've regularly and numerous times let my balance get to 10k before bothering to transfer and have NEVER had a problem.
    3. Only time I can complain about is when someone got a hold of someone else's credit card/paypal account info and scammed us through them for about $1500.
    4. Over 250k through them over last year & that was only problem.
    5. We're the #1 in volume worldwide for the travel services classification they have in their "shop" area. Perhaps why we've never been given a problem.
    6. Curious to know how many people that HAVE had problems DO NOT have another merchant account set up to take credit cards OR are NOT set up under the business account with PayPal. Like all businesses (PCGS e.g.) those that throw the most their way must get treated the best.

Must you be such a negative person, redcents?

The only number I can find on the Paypal site is: 402.935.2050

If you're not even in that area code, those long distance fees will probably be really high.

I'm glad you've never had a problem, but other people do so stop your negative ranting, please!

  • " Did you find out why they froze your account? "

I asked and they never told me, however, my suspicionis two fold:

there are relatively new banking laws that require banks and "like bank" organizations to "know your customer". PayPal seemingly uses this law to freeze your account when it has enough money in it to warrant the freezing of the account so they can increase the cash that they can generate income on. While two weeks interest at current rates on 14K isn't that much money, it certainly is enough to pay the wages of a pleeb while the pleeb gets to "know the customer."

After they froze my account they required a whole slew of documentation to verify that i was running a legitimate organization.

  • By the way, as a service to my customers, i do now again take paypal.

Even though i do it through clenched teeth.

I got run through the mill at my bank because of amount issues. Sold some gold and wanted to split the money into 2 different accounts. Still had to file a bunch of BS paperwork for the FEDS!! Any amount over $10,000 in cash transfers sends up all kinds of flags. It is basically hamstringing legitimate business operators and the law should be overturned or raised to over $100,000.00!

  • hate to say this, but DO NOT use any of the phone numbers posted in these forums (or any other forum) as a way to contact paypal. What the scammers are doing is posting numbers here that are supposed to be paypal. They answer the phone "paypal customer service." But in fact, it's not. People then give the scammer their info, and the scammer then has access to your account. ONLY use the phone numbers on our FAQ page, http://paypalsucks.com/faqs.shtml or those you find on Paypal's site.

  • So i should believe the numbers listed on http://paypalsucks.com/faqs.shtml over Anaconda? Wait, they're the same number. DUH!

    You didn't? Hmm ....

"DO NOT use any of the phone numbers posted in these forums (or any other forum) as a way to contact paypal."

The ultimately irony is that if i took your advice, I wouldnt use the number listed on the paypal sucks website since it was posted in these forums. I am sorry, but your post was misleading at best.
