New Registry Special!!!

The new set registry special is any common pre-1972 card for $7 a card. Great special! I am getting my cards ready-it expires at the end of February! http://www.psacard.com/72topresent_special.chtmlNew Registry Special

  • No minimum to submit either - nice!
  • MAybe I am expecting too much but this is not much of a special in my eyes... All they did was take away the hundred card minimum and gave the same price for a vintage common bulk submission.... Not much to get excited about in my book.....

definitely a great special! that 100-card minimum is pretty imposing to those of us that generally submit 25 or fewer cards at any one time. and i'd say that a 30 percent discount off the usual $10 fee is pretty substantial.

has psa ever clarified what constitutes a "common" for these specials? that tony esposito rc in the advertisement suggests to me that it's still anything goes, regardless of value.

  • If it's any card then it's a good special, if it only applies to commons then I am not impressed.

I concur with Jeff: this one's kind of lame. Maybe the real special starts March 1.

Considering it has been $6 in the past, this is a slight disappointment to me. With close to 400 vintage cards to submit, I will be forced to either wait or try another company. THE WIWAG story has kind of freaked me out.

Just noticed they have pushed the guarantee back to 45 days from 30. Although this hasn't been an issue in the past 12-18 months, it's another reason for me to begin to think longer and harder...

  • Little disapointed in the price but I like the no minimun and can live with the 30 day.

Can we get a clarification on the "common" definition as mentioned above?

Very disappointed here. I am trying to put together a PSA graded 1971 Topps set in PSA 7 or better. I have about 100 cards I would like to grade and hope to get a PSA 8 percantage rate of at least 70% but 7s will also be acceptable. However, since I can purchase PSA 7 commons on the secondary market for $7.00 or less (even sometimes high numbers if I am lucky) there is no way I will submit my 100 cards. Maybe a select few, but not all. I would have hoped they could have dropped the price down to $5.00 a card. Costs just don't dictate, in my book, grading 71 Topps commons at $7.00 a piece that could come back 7s. Again, I am championing for some special that includes 71 Topps cards at $5.00 a piece. I would accept the 25 card minimum.

Shifting gears, I too question what is a "common" by PSAs definition. Is it any card not specifically listed by name in the SMR? If so, this would include unlisted team cards, minor stars, league leaders and checklists.
