Green monster box and SAE roll question

When did the mint stop putting the tape across the tops of the silver eagle rolls? I only asked this question because all the other years I have bought (supposedly original) rolls, they were sealed with tape.

Another question I have is, what is the best way to remove the coins from the rolls without using too much force? It seems that the first half will fall out of the holder via gravity, maybe a few more with a gentle tapping, but the last five or six require much more effort which would surely result in a mark or two.

These are from a sealed box of 2003's that I opened by the way image

i know what you mean about that tube. they used to come out easily but now those suckers are packed in tight. maybe put the tube in a bowl of hot water, then try?

i get mine out and i don't ever put them back in those tubes.

I am not aware of any tubes being sealed by tape that came out of a sealed brick. Tape was most likely applied by your dealer.
And yes, the tubes and lids have changed. The lids have a couple of different shades of green over time. The tubes have also become more 'form fitting' to the coins over time. The tubes from the early 80s had more space and the coins would fall out. The current ones require a little effort to extract all the coins.
The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

So the green tape cross the top of the rolls I recieved as never opened (unbroken tape seal) may not of been unopened after all. That would explain the lack of any gems.
