POLL: Do you really look at people's signature lines?

RNCHSNRNCHSN Posts: 2,609 ✭✭✭
Hi guys and girls,

I'm just curious. How many of us actually look at the signature lines at the bottom of our posts? I mean all of them, not just the ones with pictures and graphics that jump right out at you (or just sit there drinking alone! LOL!)

I look at them. I think it's pretty interesting to see what you think is inportant enough to announce to the group.

  • As a matter of fact, I take that signature line AND photo very seriously. When I see a cashier zip the card thru the machine without a glance at me,I usually ask "How do you know that's me?"
This question usually elicits a response like..."Dah..like you know Man...cool".

Of course when you're an old fart like me you can get away with that stuff. Twowood

Usually, although I do kinda wish that we didn't have so many large pictures in sig areas. That is, pics that are > 3K in size.

I sometimes notice them, but I don't like the large pictures either. Slows down loading the page.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    Hi Twowood,

I think you misunderstood my intent. I'm talking about the signature line at the bottom of each posting you place here on the message boards, NOT credit cards. Although, I've noticed some people DO ignore those signatures too. LOL!

I imagine most people don't care for mine. Slows down the works too much.
  • well Tom, I can't count how many times my wife has asked me what I am doing when she sees the images you put in your sig line go by.

remind me to send you a thank you card. Don't worry if it's ticking.

I seldom do and I suspect a large percentage don't either.
I know I have never had someone PM me asking for one of my lists that are mentioned in my sig line.

I do find large pictures and graphics annoying and scroll through them rapidly to read the threads of interest
The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

    Hey Tom,

I ALWAYS look at your signature pic. Shania's HOT!

    Bill,

I'm not going to NYC for the show. Penny just got into a Nurse Anesthesist program that starts in May. She won't be able to visit her family in MS again for about 3 years. We're going down in mid Feb. so I'm tight on cash after my recent purchases. I'm going to try to make Mike Dixon's show in spring as my last coin show that's more than an hour away. After that, I'll probably be tied down, pretty close to home for 2-3 years until she gets out of school again.

I started this because I contact people about their signature notes, and have had a few people contact me about mine. I'm just curious (ie...NOSEY) about what the rest of you think.

edited to add the nosey comment.
  • Sure do. The signatures are informative and clever.
Also I can see what particular coins a member and I
may have in common and I might pm them. You can see
the emphasis I place on eye appeal from my signature.

I always do. It gives you a little insight into the person posting. Usually, I try to find something cute or witty; for now I'm just a smartazz. image

For me, it's not always the size byte-wise of the image that is the issue but the size dimension-wise. After a while, some of these threads look like the classified ad section in a newspaper with three lines of content and big pictures for other things. Just a clarifier of my original post.
