What would be a good way to store my raw Two Cent pieces?

RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭
I have a dozen so far, and right now I just have them in flips. I'd like some kind of album storage situation, but I don't want the kind of album where you stick them in a hole (like the old Whitman) or one of those ones with slides.

I use Eagle albums for my certified coins. For these Two Centers, I was thinking about the 2x2 Intercept Shield holders. Do they make an album that these fit in? Or some similar setup?

Thanks.image

I bet they would look great encased in Air-Tite holders in an Air-Tite album.

My coins are in flips and Cowen's pages. The flips are PVC free and archival safe...in other words, they don't affect the coins at all. I'm happy with them that way because it allows me to change the writing or typing on the inserts any time I want, and allows me to take the coins out of the holders for examination and photography without damaging the coin or the holder. That's just my style, not right or wrong.

Airtites are a nice way to do it.

    Russ,
I believe Intercept Shield also makes an album that would work for you. image

  • Airtites are great, but I really wish someone there would come up with a decent looking way to store them and display them. Those little cards and albums of theirs aren't the classiest way to go. So far, my coins that are in airtites just get thrown into a jewelry box. That little album of theirs is a joke.

edited to add: Also, if you are going to buy a lot of airtites, that place linked above is really expensive. Try www.jpscorner.com.

    How about PCGS holders?

    Russ:
I have a better idea. Why not go certified only on those. You have posted super nice ones before.
Stick with those and continue to display them in the Eagle albums. Imagine how nice a 2cent set would
look opened up in an Eagle album and certified by PCGS/NGC. I would go that route.

    Brian,

I have both certified and raw. My slabbed ones are MS, my raw are VF to EF. I may have a couple of them slabbed as temporary fillers for my registry set, but most I'll just keep raw - unless the market gets stupid and I could make obscene profits having them graded.image

Russ, my advice is to put them into an intercept shield album, copper really looks nice in them and if you are careful the slides won't hurt them. I have two sets of IHCs in them.
