Dealer "brown pants" story from the FUN show....

This is related to the earlier thread re: the 1897 P68R cameo IHC at FUN.

I don't know much about proof coins. I liked the coin and asked the price. The non-dealer employee told me it was $11,500. Seemed like alot so I checked with a friend that told me it had sold as a non-cameo at the ANA for around $23K!! The real asking price was around $32,500 (DHRC had tried to sell it for 46K, I'm told). So, I went back and bought it for $11,500!image I have a good friend who suggested I tell the dealer I flipped it to him for $15K and he sold it for 20K. I knew the seller would be paging me soon and sure enough, there was a overhead page asking me to come to his booth. He was so irate, I couldn't stick with the ruse so, after breaking out in laughter, I just gave it back to him. All in all, it was alot of fun (for me, not the dealer). image

(Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. I remember looking through coins at a dealers table and hearing the page, wondering the he!! you had gotten yourself into. Of course you told us the story later. We couldn't leave you alone for a minute. image
