More Coins from the Kappy Brothers - Couldn't Resist

PushkinPushkin Posts: 2,029 ✭✭✭
Sorry to start anew post on the subject, but I'm still waiting for my refund check on the grossly undergraded IHC from Kappy's and then came the CH BU roll of 1948 Lincoln cents. So I'm really down on Kappy's! image

Some examples from my roll of CH BU 1948 Lincolns - purchased from Kappy's last week!image

  • You don't think that lower right one would pull an MS66? *cough*

I've had 1 transaction with Kappys and it went well.

As for your Lincolns, these look Ch BU to me. CH BU is generally accepted as MS63. These coins look like they would make MS63. Sure they're ugly, but so are MS63s of most series.

If you are correct, then I owe the Kappy Brothers an apology - guess I don't know Lincolns?

Grading the one side I can see from top left to bottom right:

    MS63, MS63, MS62/63, MS60.

Every Lincoln I've seen them sell has spots.I wouldn't own any of them even if they were MS66's.

I agree with not owning the spotty ones....what I gave were technical grades from what I could see. If I were to market grade them, they would go in a nickel box as "UNC". If I needed a decent MS60 for grade purposes (why, I don't know) I'd rather have a decently colored coin that was baggy causing the low mark versus a lightly baggy coin that was ugly in color.

IMO because they use very good photos on single coins so bid accordingly. I have seen their photos of BU rolls, and would not bid because you really can't see what your getting.
