modern grades received from PCGS

Not much variety on the invoice but I don't think I could have done any better. Except maybe if I got a proof-70 which I've never gotton on any of these type of coins.

Invoice # 3014818.

Yeah, but you have the Dolley Madison PR70DC. I bumped it up a few dollars for you

How long had your invoice been in, and which type service did you choose? They are really slow right now, and I'd bet they are overwhelmed with submissions.

BTW - Great invoice. Did you think the grading was accurate?

Edited to add - never mind. I'm sure used modern.

........not to sound cynical, but if you go and check the pop report the results you got are really about average for the 1976 coins. i find it a little amazing that no quarters or dollars have yet to receive a 70 grade and that they are continually tried. a half dollar can be graded 70 but not the smaller quarter with less field to be hairlined or the larger dollar with less design balance to affect the strike??? oh well.

did you cherrypick from a whole boatload of the three piece sets or submit 11 whole sets that you cherrypicked?? the bicentennial is a design i've always liked and silver "proofs" so much better than clad and there are so many 69's for the three coins that you won't upset the price balance imageimageimage with these!!

    nice eye Jay!!!

The pop reports are skewed. I think that I have made darn near every 68DC on there, since I have never managed to snag a 69DC of the 76 dates.

I don't know why, but that coin is my favorite modern commemorative. I have it in MS69 and PR69DC. I just can't afford the insane prices asked for a 70. Before it's all said and done, I'll probably have several Dolleys hiding in my collection.

    Hey Keets-
Most of the 1976 coins I've seen are not deep cameo. Also in the past year when I've graded them most coins came back 68DC. This is the first time I've had so many 69DCAM's. It's much better than I expected. I looked at several hundred 3 piece sets to pick out these coins.

I got lucky on the Dolly Madison in 70 DCAM. It's only the second 70 I've ever received.

    hey jay

i know what you mean about the cameo on some of those. before 1977-78 it's hard to find a nice deeply frosted coin. those are the early strikes, so short of hairlines it should grade good. since they got their act together at the mint it's hard not to get a DCAM!!! what a difference.

i remember about 1987 when i came back to our hobby after about 12 years of sporadic interest cause of our "uncle" and my starting a family. the brown-box Ike's with the purple blue haze looked so nice and the bicentennials looked striking with what i thought then was really good contrast!!! now those things just annoy me when i find them so regularly. so tell me the truth, how many sets did you look through to find the coins you submitted?

I didn't count them but would think 200 3 piece sets. I probably left coins that would have graded 69. I just hate to waste money on grading so I've become super picky with stuff like this.
