Dishonest seller?

Hmm. . well, while checking out a few listings on ebay, I came apon this listing. While the title says MS 64, the coin just does't look it. However, giving him the benefit of the doubt, I sent an email requesting better detail on the obverse center and reverse center numeral (since these were the areas from his posted picture that looked questionable). His one line response was "Please do not bid. Thank you,Kappys" - Did I offend him? I think I'll go send a quick not to someone at Ebay and see if they care. . .

I agree with you, it looks like AU-55 would be a closer grade.
I am not positive though if that makes the seller ?dishonest?

You have demonstrated to this seller by making your request for better, more close-up images that you are not among the target group of bidders this seller wants to sell to.i didn't see a stated return policy either.
offensive to ask for better images and/or questions?...hardly...kappy,if you're reading this, ask yourself this question:At a live coin show, would you refuse to take your three cent piece out of the display case for Draco's inspection?

Suggest you don't waste your time with this eBay seller - do you want to return every coin you buy?
Just my 2 (actually 51) cents worth.
I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.

I've looked at plenty of his auctions and have come to the conclusion, his coins are substandard.IMHO,he can't grade.

<< <i>Dishonest? I wouldn't say that. His grading skills leave a lot to be desired, but if he were trying to deceive bidders he wouldn't post close-up pics. >>
There were no pictures of the 1948 CH BU Lincoln shown above in my earlier post to this thread - just a picture of an "old roll".
Overall profile makeup 8093 positives. 5399 are from unique users and count toward the final rating.
18 neutrals.
8 negatives. 8 are from unique users and count toward the final rating.
How can an intentionally dishonest person have this kind of FB rating? And I see a pretty even mix of newbies and old heads bidding on his auctions along with a lot of repeat customers. I have a lot of respect for you, Pushkin, and I'm not trying to get you to sic that big ole Maine Coon on me, just trying to help differentiate between a blatantly dishonest seller and someone who just plain sucks at grading
Like I said, I avoid ANYTHING raw being sold as AU or BU without seeing it in person.
Cheers,
Bob
However, I think there is value in making the newbies aware of the risks involved with this seller. Sorry if I got a little hot under th collar.

If they were dishonest I don't think he would leave himself open to a neg from me that he couldn't neg me back with.
