Absentee/Mail-in bids for auctions...

airplanenutairplanenut Posts: 22,149 ✭✭✭✭✭
How do they work? Does the bidding start at the highest absentee bid, or is an auction rep (like the guys on the phone) who bids until the absentee bid has reached its maximum?

I've been wondering for a while.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Usually if the underbidder was at $500 and you bid $1000, they will start the bidding at $525 and the floor bidders will bid against your "book bid" until there is a winner.
