Home PSA Set Registry Forum

Opinions of other grading services..

I am fairly new to the PSA Set Registry as well as the message board, but not new to PSA collecting. I've been collecting NFL HOF RC's for the past 3 or 4 years, and all that I purchased were not PSA. Since finally finding the Set Registry and this board, I have begun the process of upgrading all of my NON-PSA cards to PSA by popping and re-submitting to PSA.

So far I have received approx. 9 "popped" cards back from PSA with about 10-15 more going in with my next shipment. From my experience, here is what I have learned.

BGS cards have graded higher from PSA. (i.e. two BGS 7.5 cards I sent in both received a grade of PSA 8)*.
SGC cards are VERY close to PSA in grading. So far I have received the exact same grade 4 out of 5 cards with PSA, one grading lower as an (OC).
PGS, I sent in one card a PGS 8 and received a PSA 8.
FGS, I sent in one card that was FGS 10 and it received a PSA 7!

I have yet to buy a PRO, I have one CTA that is graded CTA 8, but will likely get a 6 or 7 from PSA.

I think it would be VERY helpful to guys like me if some of you Board Vets could post your opinions on what is worth buying and re-submitting, and what is not. Finding some of the HOF RCs I need is tough, and I haven't had much luck buying ungraded cards from ebay.

Bottom Line is, what other Grading Companies can we trust to buy and re-submit to PSA?

Thanks in Advance,

  • Check out the sports card and memorabilia forum, look for thread entitled"your input needed Gai and BCCG"

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.
  • I think the best advice would be to buy the PSA card initially and save the headaches of popping and resubmitting. I don't think there is that much differece in price when you factor everything in.
  • Before you buy Pro you may want to look at the thread by Aaronman it may influence you a little.

Anyway welcome to the board and I hope to see your posts again.

I checked out the thread in the "Sports Card and Memorabilia" Forum. Very good info, much of what I expected. Tuned me into GAI though, I've never purchased any of those, but if I can get cards at a discount to get re-graded by PSA, hey, great deal.

Comments are much appreciated, I hope to be a fixture of the message board and set registry.
