Buff Registry collectors here?

I was just wondering if there were any Buff Registry collectors here? It would be great to hear from you and was wondering if you had picked up any Buffs at the FUN show?
I know Cladmaker is and I'm sure we'll hear from him later once he returns from Florida. I know I lost 1-2 bids because of him.image

  • Although I don't collect registry quality Buffalos, I'm still listed here. This is my way of sharing my collection with everybody. image I'm picking up a 17-D and a 26-D (both in 63) from my dealer this week, and we're about to send in a 26-S that should pull an AU55. That'll knock out a few keys...
  • Caitlin, I'am a buffalo collector with a complete but unregistered set. I regularly read these boards but rarely post. I posted on the other thread re your 36d in 68. I have some additional insights re the auction and the buffalo market. If you would like to touch base feel free to email me or you can me at 714 4144003. Carl.
  • Welcome BuffaloNickelJr !! It is good to have another Carl posting to these boards. There never seem to be enough Carls around image

Who owns the #5 and #13 Sets in the Registry ? Is this Guy ever around here ? image

    Ken
  • Ken, the#5 and #13 buffalo sets are owned by an avid and passionate buffalo nickel collector, Richard Hennessey. I know he reads these boards. Rick, were you able to acquire any upgrades? Any thoughts or antecdotes on the show would be appreciated. Carl

Carl I knew it was Rick. I was in hope that maybe he would jump in here and say a few words. Maybe even call me a Lure Collector as he does almost every time I see him at a Coin Show. Heck even maybe one of these times I will get to see his Sets. That would be extremely cool if that happened.

Rick told me he picked up I believe 5 Buffs for his collection. I'll send him a PM in hopes he'll post them for us. Also I'd love to hear any insight about the show and market you might have. Here's my email address Thanks. levesque329@hotmail.com

  • Well, we now have a fourth buffalo set being sold. The BTB collection is being sold by heritage at Long Beach. In the last seven months the Pennsylvania Collection and Jon Lor Collections were sold at auction and the Kutz collection sold privately. If I knew three of the top six or seven sets would be sold I might have been a little more conservative in acquiring coins for my set but nobody thought so many quality coins would have been available. The upcoming auction results will be a good barometer on the depth and strength of the buffalo market. Carl

Like MastaHanky's, my Buffalo set will never be a contender for a top spot, but having it in the Registry helps me to keep track of what I have/need. I didn't pick up any at the FUN show, as the Buff set isn't a high priority for me right now. However, I came very close to buying a 1918-P in MS64 that was much nicer than the 63 in my set. With a seemingly limitless number of choice coins at the show, it took a lot of will power to remain focused on other goals.

Funny you mention that, my dealer has an 18-P in MS64 that I like more than my current one...I was thinking about picking that one up and unloading my original one on the board or eBay. Surprisingly tough date...IMHO, the toughest P-mint of the series. (If not, possibly second to the 24-P?)
  • Grrrr!!!!
The btb set is one of highlights of the upcoming Heritage Long Beach sale on page 18 of the January 27 coin world. the add states the btb collection # 4 current + all time varieties set. I call "BS" on that statement!! image Heritage should do there reserch or the math!!! image The btb set is currently # 8 at 89% complete and # 5 in the varieties set --- NOT # 4---- Im # 4 current and a complete set soon to pass there set. I just had to vent i guess image
