Non FBL Franklins.......

Is it just me or do non FBL Franklin Half Dollars seem to be ignored as people look for FBL examples?

I just got a 1958 MS66 on eBay for < $45

Yes they are good buys if you don't care about fbl or not.

yes they are a good buy, i had a choice to buy a fbl ms66 or a beautiful toned non fbl ms66, i bought the toned non fbl, as its eye appeal was way better than the other one.....go with the lookers, you cant go wrong.image
  • In my opinion they are extremely good buys. Anytime you can pick up a 51S or a 52S in MS66 for 1/5th to 1/10th the price of an MS65FBL you're doing AOK in my book!

  • I have a number of certified non-FBL Franklins that I feel are really great values. I have a really nice toned 1951-P in a NGC MS67 holder that is really clean and very well struck. IMO, it is FBL but I don't really care about cracking it out a resubmitting it. The 1951-P PCGS MS67 FBL sold for $20,000 plus; I paid about a 10th the price for a coin that is nearly as nice.

If I always stuck to strike issues, my collection would be pretty ugly.
