    Hi Tim, Ken, & all,

I noticed it also. There is a lot of activity in the Merc registry, but from what I have seen, that is almost normal. There have been some very nice coins added in the last week, and some even better upgrades. I added a 1920-P in 65FB which moved me back up to # 19. I won no bids in the Heritage auctions, so I received no help there, but I have some other things working. Hopefully, I will be getting 7-8 new dimes for my set in the next 30-60 days. I am no danger to you Ken, but to those in the high and mid teens, I'm giving fair warning! Hope to be up there duking it out with PT, Quatro, and JB soon!

I expect we may see a little flurry of additions as people return from the FUN show, so you guys that bought there, we expect reports on the Merc activity! Tell us about your new additions.

    Regards,

    Wayne

  • I picked up one real beauty while I was there, I added a different 1916P 65fb to the set, the coin is perfectly suited for my set. White..lol
It has the appearance of a possible 66 but 65 is just fine for me. I did see 4 other coins that really caught my eye, but they were all to far out of my means at the present time. I did check out the Dan Miller 66fb 16D that Superior had, that is coming up in their auction soon, also another 65fb 16d, but that one was not at all a 65, it was a push from a 64 at best.(but that is only my opinion, for what ever that is worth) All in all, that was a great experience for me.

For all you advanced collectors who may be upgrading our mercury sets and don't know what to do with your lowly XF/AU/BU extra mercury dimes, why don't you drop me a line. I am just an average collector (70) trying to get some holes filled in my two collections. Don't have much money but got some coins that I will trade. Louie

The PCGS MS-67 1916-D dime that did not meet reserve at $102,000 plus at the Heritage Signature FUN auction is now on the Heritage site at $98,900.

Hey Quatro & PT, moved to 18 today because J.B. dropped out, will move to 17 tomorrow because I bought his 26-D 64FB. (Passing signals are on!) Have 6 more coins in route that should be here in the next week or so. I won't be passing you anytime soon, but I'm going close the gap considerably by the first of next month. You might just want to look over your shoulder once in a while. imageimage

Looks like there are some very nice additions going into the mercury dime registry sets. I am STILL waiting for my grades to come back from PCGS they recieved them on 05 dec 2002. One of the coins is a 1937-S mrecury dime which I expect to grade 65+ fb, with my luck and thier grading watch it come back in a bag or au58. BS

  • image Pat ,

All that red means that we are all broke. Trying to support this addiction known as collectacoinites. This is my first attempt at sending a note to any of you guys so i don't know how it is going to turn out.

    Orville:

Isn't that what the 16D hit at the Auction ? Seems I remember that number. I also noticed the 19D did not sell either. Two Big Boys that have to sit at home.

A lot of red, indeed! 7 of the top 12 sets have updates. Steve (#1) and Tim (#5) have some very impressive additions: '24-P in 67FB, '27-D in 66FB, 21-P and 21-D in 66FB, and '31-D in 67FB!!

Welcome to the boards, Steve. Yes, my wallet's a bit thinner than it was a week ago. I had 3 additions and an upgrade, which moved me up to the #9 position for one whole day before being bumped back to #10. After having a few days to reflect on my purchases, the '28-D Merc in 64FB is my favorite (see link below). There were a handful of dates that I saw at the FUN show, but didn't buy because of nicks, weak strikes, or being obviously dipped: the '17-D, '20-D, 21-P, '26-D. and '27-D. Guess I'll have to be patient.

Congrats to everyone on their new prizes!
