Bidding on the live Hertitage auction can be deadly

As the lots scroll up, they first appear say as No bidder and the bid button says $50

Then the floor bidders show up and the bid button instantly changes to $2500. If you click then, you're $50 bid is now $2500

  • I saw one of those auctions earlier this morning and was like "Wow $50 for that" had my ID and password entered and then at the last minute decided not to when I couldn't choose what I wanted to bid. I don't know just seemed a little weird to me.

Same thing has been happening a lot. Avoid live bidding on eBay.

Bid the normal way and you can experience what I did: You bid $1, lot closes at $10, you are winner at $10. image I'm sure it is just a glitch before the web site gets updated.

    You ain't kiddin'!

I was just watching yesterday from work and I had a meeting to attend, I went to shut down my computer and accidently hit the "Bid Now" button. The screen shut down and logged off. I have no idea what I bid on, how much I bid or whether I won or lost. I could be the proud but mistaken owner of a MS65 1893-CC Morgan for $42,000. I guess I'll have to wait for an e-mail from Heritage though.

  • Despite it saying $50 to open, opening prices were usually what internet bidding ended at on their website. At least that was the case from those lots I had an interest in.

If you look at the my eBay page it will show the items you won or lost.
  • Is there any reason to bid via ebay vs. directly on the Heritage site?

Sure. It's for people who like to pay 5% more for the same item.
  • I can get in enough trouble on my own. I don't need that to put me in the poor house!

  • That happened to me many, many times. Sitting there watching something I'd really like to have. . bid goes to maybe 450. . my brain commands my finger to click the mouse button. . by the time the command is executed by my finger, bid sitting at 1600. . .now it's time tp pray someone out-bids me then I can go change my underware.

Is having a box you can type in a number too much to ask!!!???
  • Draco, just a couple of questions about your collection if you don't mind.
1). how did you get the $100 platinum eagles so cheap?
    and
2). where can I get them for that price? image

BAH! Sorry, it's what the software calls them (coinmanage 2002). All the platinum eagles are called "100 Dollars." I'll add that to my list of things to fix.
