how do you take pics of your coins?!?!

We have a decent camera (canon G2) and bought the macro lens to go with it. Now does anyone know how we could set up the coin/camera to get good pics of coins? Thank you so much for your help.

Use a remote to snap the picture.

what kind of lights are those? also it looks like your taking them stright down, when i try that i get a nasty shadow on everyone of my pics, how do you get rid of the shadow?

I always have trouble with lighting and shadows so I went somewhere where there is light all around. Outside on a sunny day.

I have tried everything and the best pic's will come from the light not the camera. I have ended up with a OTT light that I purchased from Office Depot. You would not believe the difference. Relayer has a good setup but I think the OTT or just buy what is called a Reveal light bulb in a standard desk lamp. Both lights produce great pics.

Those lights don't always stay in that position. They can move around alot. They have reveal bulbs in them plus since that picture was taken I have added an OTT Lite also. Main things are tripod or some device to hold the camera, good lighting, and use a remote to snap the image.
