42S Washington price going skyward?

Is it me or have prices for the 42S really gone escalated in the last month or so. Here's an MS66 on ebay that closed last night. Just last week there was one that closed at around 200. I've started to notice the same thing with the 52S in MS66. Any thoughts?

I think that we are going to see this continue for the next few years. Washingtons are at the forefront of this hot market, and people are noticing that some of these coins (earlier dates, esp 40s and 50s) are scarcer than realized in better grades. While I do not believe they will become multi-thousand dollar coins, they will definitely continue to appreciate well into the hundreds.

  • That one looks really PQ. Might account for the price. A very nice example to be sure.
