How come we dont hear about `phantom mm Lincolns`

I,m reading right out of the 54th edition (2001) and it saying cents made since 1994 can have phantom mnt marks on them. These of course where minted in Philly, but I never hear of a member here showing their great find.
Apparently these have a faint D or S on these Philly Lincolns since `94 as it states.

Did I just miss all those threads?image

I have a number of them dating from 1997 to present, but as for the earlier dates, I am unfamiliar with any reports of them. The 1997 cents with the phantom D were quite common and selling for $5-$10 each at one time until everyone got their fill. The 1998 cents reportedly came in both D and S versions and could still bring pretty decent money if someone were to run one on eBay with nice photos. The 1999 version came mainly in mint sets. I have one in a 1999 mint set that looks quite nice, actually. By 2000 the big deal fizzled and people generally moved on to other new and exciting things....like the "type 2" reverses.

If you would like, I can dig out some examples tomorrow and photo them for the thread readers to see.

Ah,I see. Thanks coppercoins. This is when I jumped back into the hobby in mid `99.
I think thats when the big focus ws on SQs and Sacs and the Sac Mules. Also the so-called type 2 reverse Lincolns were being mentioned.Ah ,The good ol days huh.image

Edited to add,Ok I know there were no Sac mules in 1999 much less ANY Sac dollar....imageimage

Just a little off on the timing. The statehood quarters were big then, but the Sac mules weren't around until later, and the first reports of the "type 2" Lincolns were in the late Spring of 2000. The 1998 type 2 coins were actually discovered after the 2000 coins.
