Photographing through Card Coin Holder?

The staple together kind...
Anyone have luck with this? Can you get good pis? Does the film cover mess with the light on toned coins?

  • I've tried scanning them. It comes out ok sometimes, but others you've got issues with glare from slightly wavy plastic, or bits of cardboard floating around.

My question is, since the holder is stapled together, why not just lift the staples, take the coin out, and photo it out of the holder? It's not a slab, you can staple it back together.

  • I dunno!? I figure you wouldn't want to mess with it.
