Somewhat off topic - Member of ANA YN on Jeopardy

I have Jeopardy on right now and one of the kids on there is a member of the ANA YN. He`s the one in the blue shirt. Introduced as wanting to collect coins.

He lost. The show was on hours ago here. There was one question that was remotely coin related and he didn't get to answer it. It was in reference to some middle name starting with B belongs to this women's sufferage leader. Of course the answer would be Susan B. Anthony.

My daughter (age 11) was on Kids Jeopardy last year. It was a fun time, and Alex was very friendly.

Umm, yes. I guess I woudn't do very well on the show. It actually bugs me to have to phrase the answers in the form of a question - a little outdated if you ask me.

Good luck to him ... I have seen U.S. Coins as a category on Jeopardy and, once, it was even Final Jeopardy. Forget the question, but it was an "easy" one to a numismatist. Would have loved to bet it all ... And, in some quirk, I know three people who have appeared on Jeopardy, including one five-time champ ...

On one of the early "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" shows, the final million-dollar question asked what US coin was the first to carry the motto In God We Trust. Even though it's a multiple-choice, the contestant decided to pass on the question and settle for $500,000.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

She came in second. We won a computer and a trip for 4 to Hawaii, which we declined. The way they had the trip valued, in pre-9/11 dollars and full retail, the tax on the trip would have cost more than if we booked the trip ourselves. And they did fly us out to LA, put us up in the Beverly Hilton for 4 days, and provided some spending money to see the sights, when not taping.
