in a recent psa submission.. i had returned to me unholdered an 86 fleer charles barkley rc.. it was due to questionable authenticity.. if anyone is willing to look at it for me I would be happy to send detailed scans of the front and back to help in letting me in on why it would be questionable..

Maybe you've already done this, but have you compared it to a Barkley (or any '86 Fleer) you know to be authentic? I suppose like the fake Jordans, the picture may not appear as sharp or the text (such as "Fleer Premier") may seem fuzzy.

Here is what to look for regarding the logo . image

  • Also the card stock may not be the same, I would compare it to a common 1986 card.

  • I'm not an authority on '86 Fleer, I just wrote an article.

In Lemke's counterfeit detector book, he notes two counterfeits of this card. One is easier to spot than the other. The easy one has half-tones (dots) in the "PREMIER" text in the Fleer logo, and the line above and below "PREMIER". An authentic card will have solid ink there, not dots.

The harder one is described as really hard to tell. There are some picture differences that seem very subtle, and he notes that some of the loops on letters and numbers on the back of the card are filled in.

I have a bogus Jordan card. It's really easy to spot, because it has half-tones where there should be solid ink, and the text around the "NBA" logo on the back is illegible.
