Heritage "Last Chance" Coins

I have been looking at a number of Heritage's "Last Chance" coins. For those that are not familiar with Heritage auctions, Last Chance coins are coins that did not sell at auction and are then offerred for direct purchase at a fixed price. I have yet to see a coin that I thought was worth the asking price. Maybe what I am interested in is selling at auction. Has anyone found a good buy among these Last Chance coins? Do you think most of these coins are consigned coins where the consigner set too high a reserve price, or is there some other factor involved?
Buy the coin...but be sure to pay for it.

Nope all high priced stuff. No "bargains".

Ahh, found them. All too expensive for me. Just by virtue of being 4 digits, it's too expensive for me! Unless I buy 1 and not buy anything else for the rest of the year!
  • I did pick up an MS-63 1879-O Morgan that way today. Yeah....I probably paid too much, but haven't had much luck finding that date in a certified grade elsewhere at a reasonable price...I've already hosed myself twice buying two 79-Os raw, and getting sliders.

I picked up a white MS66 63D Roosevelt that way about a month ago that was around 12.00 dollars.

I looked 2x at that list. Hardly impressive, and not worth my time to look again. I mean, if these coins are the "rejects", you would think they would really want to "move" them, and price them accordingly.

  • That 79-O Morgan I bought must have had a reserve that didn't get hit because I know there were several bids out on it...had it on a track list. I got it for notably less than the bids were going for...but then you throw in the 15%, plus shipping, plus the damm 8% I have to give to the state of California (that chaps me more than anything !!!)

i love this thread last chance coins offered again

as " some other factor was involved" yea they are too MUCH MONEY AND STILL ARE.....................LOL

HERE YOU HAVE AN AUCTION and then it doesnot sell then offered again at a fixed price

that is strange to me as it really doesnot sound like an auction to me

but as i always have said the one word defination of an auction is

collusion how ever you spell it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......................lol and this certainly proves it

    i love this thread!!!!

    sincerely michael
