    I've been there on both sides of the auction. Its a real pain when you are the high bidder and the seller cancels your bid and sells the card out from under you. Conversely, I've cancelled auctions and bids and sold items in response to a direct offer from a prospective buyer. Unless or until E-Bay either prohibits the practice or allows buyers to track how many auctions a seller has ended early (and thus avoid the heartache by not bidding on a card), I don't think you are going to see any changes on E-Bay.
