very few of the mint state type coins in the upcoming signature sale at fun have caught my eye, however one that did was the 1874 S arrows quarter in p.c.g.s. 66 [the mint state barber quarters and halves in this auction look like crap] not sure about bidding further on the seated quarter but this coin has the look for luster, surface, and originality that i crave, its already up to around 5,000 including buyers fee and the only way i could get it is [without telling my wife] would be to charge it if i bid and win it. This may not be rare for an arrows type quarter but its got me hooked! I'd post a picture if i could. Would like to know your opionions on this coin and what your favorites in the auction are.
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

Actually, I've already been outbid on 17 of my 31 bids! The strange thing is that there appears to be firce competition for some obscure coins. I'm still high bidder on a number of more popular coins, but I'm sure floor bidders will knock me out of the running on a number of those, too.

Of course, you could protect yourself by bidding higher or <gasp> by bidding your max <gasp> and then it doesn't matter what others bid.
Edited to add: How would you like to be on the floor and win a lot, only then to have it opened again because some old fart forgot to bid. Happened to me at a Heritage auction recently. He claimed his bid card was up, but he was full of crap. One of the auction workers claimed he saw it. I won the lot for about 30% more. I would have won it out of spite, but I probably should have torn up my bid card right then and left the auction.
Some of the prices I've seen have already blown me away. One coin that I figured would go for a 50%-100% premium for the toning is already multiples of that.
Another lots is at a fraction of the value for normal excluding the wonderful toning.

Just grade rarities I suppose and I like seeing what the big boys bring to the plate The dime is already up to 5500 on Heritage, crazy money. I've got 10 bids in but only really plan on getting 2 where if I loose, somebody really really wanted it.
Any thoughts on this 1807 25c? 1807 Bust 25c
Or this? Someone please bail me out on this one as I just bought another yesterday: 1908-d Baber 50c
I don't mind posting what i am bidding on or like. I bid within my budget not over it. If you want to see what's hot look at what has attracted the most bids. I see alot of records will be set for toned material.
I will not be contributing to any of these records
Man... I can say that bust is great and not get smacked by the wife for it. oooooo..
Edit: Correct that 4025 on heritage.. derned bidders while ya post!
I've bid high with the 30% increase option and worried that my opening bid was too high only to end up second highest bidder. Someone on the floor REALLY must have wanted that one.
