ANACONDA, what in your estimation holds it back from a higher grade? Other than a little chatter (maybe) in the left obverse it looks to be mark free, well struck, and eye appealing. Does it have "friction", subdued luster, bad breath? Thanks for sharing.
The ding under the I in Liberty......that seems to me to be about as inconsequential as any mark could be while still being visible on a scan 50 times actual size.
Oh, and Marc....you can take that as a compliment. Columbus is immortalized for his arrival, not his route.
Anaconda, This is a very nice specimen of a good date HD. While not an in hand evaluation , I would have given it a point up for its toning. The strike is strong but that is expected for date. I really like this coin; for some reasons I have 3 1866 HD proofs and no business strikes. Thanks for sharing.
Great looking coin....pic looks 66. Tough in MS though they tend to come in higher MS grades ( hoard?). Would be proud to own it. Thanks for the post. K

(Marc - you and Columbus share quite a bit in common. You arrived at a good destination but rather inadvertantly)

The ding under the I in Liberty caught my eye so I guessed no higher than 65. But with that coloring who cares!
BTW - Thanks for the calendar Adrian. It was a nice gesture.
and it sets us apart from practitioners and consultants. Gregor
