A little advice please?

I wish to sell some of my cards on eBay and was considering using Andale to host my images. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am a small collector (about 200 PSA cards) and only wish to sell cards as I upgrade them. I have about a dozen right now to sell. I appreciate any advice I may get (good or bad) on the subject.

  • I've been using Village Photos for the past month or so. They have a free service that is good if you're only listing a few cards every week. I've been using the $5.00/Mo service which gives you unlimited bandwidth on ebay and a limit of 120 photos. I have not had any problem with this service since I started using it.

    Hope that was helpful.

  • Thanks Jeb. I'll check it out.

  • billbob - You have an internet service provider. It is highly likely that everybody who signs up with them is given some free webspace. This can range from a few MB to 20-30 MB. Email them or check their website to see if this is available. It is free, and you have complete control over your images. Post your email or just the stuff after the @ and we can check it if you like.

    Waittil,

That is how I do it. As an AOL user, they give enough free space to host about 15-20 pictures (full-size PSA cards). This works well for me, since that's about the amount of auctions I'm comfortable in running at a given time.

Currently collecting.....your guess is as good as mine.
  • waittilltheytrytosell - I am with adelphia.net and as far as I can tell there is no "free" service. But if you know better I would be in your debt to find out. Thanks.

  • Try here - http://www.adelphia.com/internet/features.cfm

And then click on residential service plans. It looks like you've got some free space there.

  • waittilltheytrytosell - Thanks I'll check it out.

  • Yes as an AOL user, you get space with your Screen name, and when I run out, I use another screen name. I think you can have almost 14 different screen names under one account. I have about 200+ pictures on AOL right now under 6 screen names. All for the price of one.

  • Mr. KKBB - How do you find that service on AOL? Is there a keyword?

Also, how is this service better than just scanning a picture of the card and attaching it when asked when preparing your Ebay listing? Are the pictures more clear or crisp?

    Thanks for the help!

    Cubfan,

    AOL keyword - my ftp

Just click on "my free space", and it will take you to the space where you can then upload your pictures.

As for picture quality, it is much better than the fuzzy Ebay free hosting.

  • cubs - As you list each item, you have to copy out your picture to their service at that time. It would slow you down when listing. If you copied all your pictures a few days ago to say AOL, all you have to do is enter the hyperlink to the picture when listing. If you want to change your picture you can. I don't think you can change it the other way. I think they also compress the size/quality of the picture sometimes to a point of not being as good as you would have liked it. If you use your own space someplace you have more control over what your bidders see.
  • You can also find it in one of the menus at the top of the AOL screen, under Internet I think.

Yes, I like to scan in advance, that way if it doesn't sell - I still have it there. It also works for my WebSite hosting.

And the pictures are much more clear as you can see in the link by PlayBall.

By the way PlayBall, you say that is 100dpi - what is the size %?

    Thanks KKBB

With AOL -- can you get image hosting done through the web? (e.g. -- I hardly ever dial up my AOL account -- I just check my mail and what not online). But I can't seem to find a place online to host images. Thanks for any help.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    KKBB,

    MS,

Did you try the keyword from the previous post? I stumbled upon this option by reading one of the E-Bay tutorials on hosting pictures. If you'd like to e-mail me, I can give you a step-by-step for AOL.
