Determining if it's an Accented Hair without tipping off the seller.:)

If you look carefully at the coin in this auction, it appears that it might be the Accented Hair variety, but difficult to say for certain. Now, one could ask for a better scan of the obverse, but the problem is that he already has a decent scan and he might get suspicious.

So, I asked for a scan of the reverse, and sure enough it had the broken rays and straight G. Came in today, and it's a nice one right on the cusp of cameo.

Damn you, Russ .. dash a man's illusions, go right ahead. Take what little pride I have and grind it out right under your heel. You won't bite on an AH for $17? ... you're cheaper than I am. I guess I will have to take solace in the PR-66 CAM 1965 SMS JFK I "made." And, I had that set tucked away forgotten for the better part of 12 years, so do not tell me you had that one on your watch list.

It's not that. I've frequently paid that much or more. In this particular case I thought the strike was too weak, and since he said it was an Accented Hair right in the title of the auction, I figured it would bring stronger money than I was willing to pay for the coin.

Oh well, it will be slabbed and I will post the grades. Has that tiny spot on the cheek, but booming luster and great mirrors. I was just looking for a cheap piece to add to my 20th Century proof set ... and, you are talking to the king o the cheap (i.e, slabbed, mind you ... 1952 PR-67 CAM Jeff, $82; PR-69 1962 Jeff (26/0), $9; a PR-67 1954 Jeff, $7, a PR-66 1942 Ty. 1 Jeff, $39, a non-slabbed BU set of Jeffs, 1938-64, $36, etc., etc., etc.) and, I have some pre-CAM designation green slab 60-62 PR Jeffs on the way, $10 a pop, that are cannot miss CAMs and DCAMs ... life is good.
