beautiful 1947-d jefferson pcgs ms66 FS shot 67?

There is a beautifully toned PCGS MS66 FS Jefferson on the Heritage internet only auction that closes tonight. That coin is $4500. if it would up grade to ms67. Take a look and see if you don't think it has a shot.

  • Its a 66 but little or no shot at 67. The marks on the bottom of the lapel do it for this coin. The marks on the cheek, although probably die chatter and should not affect the grade, are distracting and the graders are going to look for any excuse not to give it the bump. Also too many marks in the Pillars of "MONTICELLO". At least IMHO.

I owned a 47-D in PCGS MS67FS at one time and it was far nicer than this 66. I wish I still had the set, but Frank and others now have some of my former set that was #1 back in early 2000.

The MS67 coins were purchased, but most of the 65 and 66 grades I made from rolls and/or searches through coin dealers' stock at local coin shows.

    Thanks for the comments...
