Superiors auction observations

I watched just a little of the action and checked on a few lots i would have bid on if the process was more equitable.

I saw many internet buyers sniped or maybe too slow on the bid key? Very unfair! All that abuse and paying an xtra 5% fpr the priveledge.

What was deader than dead were the comem golds, no bids at all on some. Morgans were also slow.

Anyone reading this and now back in their home / hotel room wish to comment? Thoise following on line please comment as well.

The coins I followed brought strong prices commensurate to their quality. The two coins I previewed, the 1836 PF64 half and the 1839 PF65 Gobrecht, brought a little more than I expected for the quality of the coin in the holder. Legend was underbidder on the PF67 1794 half dime and the 1919-D half.

I noticed some of the trade dollar prices were very weak, but I didn't preview those coins, so I don't know the quality. An NGC MS63 1876-CC brought only $7k+15% and the proofs I checked on went very cheap (see related thread regarding 1875 DCAM).

i wonder why the proof trades went so cheap??

the 75 deep cameo trade the scan is not that good but scans are sometimes very deceptive

The 1858-0 quarter in PCGS MS65 opened at $2500 and then had ONE bid to $14500. What gives with that? High internet bid?

Some of the better looking proof seated halves and quarters brought less that the ones that were not as "good looking." No doubt hidden hairlines. EVP was going to preview this session but he was late in arriving and Superior shutdown viewing at 4:00. Their loss however.

I was 0 for 3 using ebay. I just put up 3 early bids and.....
My max bid here was 140.00. it went for radiculus price
my bid for this one was 400.00 I knew it was low but still... D_MN
My max bid here was 3500.00 it went for twice that much, I'm sad but I cannot afford 7G anyway...
I prefer superior to heritage. bics are better and heritage takes forever to load.... .... ..... ...... ..... ..... .....
  • I am extremely happy that I got outbid on the only coin I tried to snag, because at a show this weekend, I fell in love with a Trade Dollar, and it was one or the other, and I just confirmed the TD was still available.

    RR -

Nicest proof quarters in the auction... 1861, 1871, 1875, 1884

    Niceest proof halves... 1863, 1865, 1873NA, 1880, 1882, 1883, 1884

    Wasn't there, just my report.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

sadysta1: When I saw that PCGS 64R/B 1937 Lincoln go for over $575.00- as nice as the color is- made me feel better about snaging this one with a cheaper BIN: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3303729356
