Maybe someone can help us out with this.My son & I were wondering where we could get the best deal on uncirculated state quarters going back to the beginning.We want to get caught up to current,then buy them as they come out.
We see all kinds fo deals out there but were wondering if we could get some ideas on where to buy from some of you good coin experts.You can leave info here or PM us with ideas.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
We currently collect football & hockey cards but are wanting to get into some of the coins as well.

There are a number of things you need to consider before buying anything.

Do you want to purchase mint state coins or proofs?
If proofs, do you want the standard clad issue version or the silver version?
Finally, do you want to purchase them as they came from the mint or do you want them to be slabbed by a respectable third-party grading service?

I'm sure that, no matter which direction you take, all options are available from your local coin dealers or through one of the on-line auction services...Ebay, Yahoo, etc.

But - before buying anything, it would make a lot of sense to see what is out there, read coin magazines, books, etc. to get a feel for the grades and associated prices, and determine what it is that you really want to collect.

We already decided we wanted the standard clad proofs.As far as any local dealer,the only one in this area is a bigger ripoff than the 2 card stores we have here which is sying something.
We were just wanting to get some ideas of any reputable dealers we could purchase from.Thanks!

We both want thank everyone for your help here & the PMs everyone sent.
We decided to get the standard clad proof sets from both "P" & "D".Hopefully with the info you all have provided us as to where to
purchase these we'll be able to get caught up from 1999 thru 2002.
If any of you all have these,please let us know.
We would rather deal with one of our CU partners than someone else.Thanks again;it's good to know there are caring people out there.
We can either buy or if you are into sports cards like we are,we have football hockey or baseball to trade.Sorry,NO basketball.We have some nice Autographs,Game Used & Rookie Cards of many star players.

you could also do the first day covers. i wouldn't suggest them for investment purposes but i think they're pretty cool. you get a P & D mint UNC clad quarter in a FDC envelope cancelled on the first day the coins were issued. a little history and explanation of the coin is on the back too. they're a bit on the expensive side for what you get although some are worth more than the issue price now.

I think a very nice set of uncirculated coins could be had out of pocket change or buying rolls from the bank. mike
