Superior pre-FUN Elite coin auction going on now.

Here's a thread if anyone wants to comment on the prices realized in the Superior Elite auction which just got underway in Orlando @ The Rosen Hotel. Just started with the colonials and will work there way through the 1200+ lot auction in two sessions. Second session starts @ 6 p.m. EST. I've got the live auction running in the background while I try to get some work done today!

Just watched the IHC's. Prices weren't too impressive with the exception of a P65 1856 FE reaching 17k (hammer).

Once in a while the picture actually was available before the bidding was over (this with a cable modem). I guess this is no big deal as you should have checked out the coins before the auction!

  • How much did that AU58 Vermontensium and the 64 Red Liberty and Security colonial go for?

    Yeah,

I just won a 1909-S Indian Head cent on the Superior auction. I didn't really want it, but figured I'd put in a low but reasonable bid and watch the bidding pass me by - well it didn't! So, guess I'll have to sell a lower grade one on eBay - I never win on these online auctions - except this time when I really didn't care that much (really didn't want to).image I agree, it doesn't look like Flyers and Indians are getting much play.image

I know, whine, whine, whine. image

  • Pushkin,

"Did you ever bid on a coin that you didn't want, and win it"? LOL

Hope it is in such a state, that you become glad that won it.

I think we bought these two, among others, so far (if my bids were executed properly!) and if so, I'm very pleased. image

is the auction really going on NOW? it's been on lot #554 for the past 10min.

mbbiker - they are in between sessions right now. The second session is scheduled to start at 6:00 E.S.T. - perhaps it has been delayed, due to the finish time of the first session?
  • Coinguy,

Is that Merc really a FB? the middle one looks flat in the image.

Separately, does anyone know if there was any way to bid online w/o using ebay?
  • coinguy1coinguy1 Posts: 13,484 ✭✭✭
DesertLizard - I believe it is, though, from the image, I can certainly understand why you asked.

I don't know of a way to have participated over the internet other than through Ebay.
  • Am I missing something or is there anyway to view lots on line and say print out all the Bust & Seated Halves? When I do it via ebay I have to page through every single page to get to the pages i am interested in. Or is there a way to print the entire catlog or download it?

Heritage has made an art of this and I wish the others would follow suit. B & M are the worse in this category.

No, its a very clumsy user interface. I had the same problem. Not even a 'jump to' lot number button.
