What will you submit for the quarterly free?

If indeed the next quarterly submission is Canadian, what will you submit? I've been thinking of some of my Canadian dollars, a British Columbia dollar, or some older Newfoundland coins. Got any interesting Canadian stuff?

Did Canada mint Two Cent pieces?

  • This might be mine. Just to keep it in a safe holder. It's in a very nice proof case but the coin itself is not enclosed in any thing. I got this back in 77 from my Grandfather. I wish I knew then what I know now. It has some scratches from people touching it. Very small ones but they are there. Sorry my picture isn't better.

My mother says she might have very old coins from Canada too. I'll have to check with her before submitting.

Canadian, eh? Sounds good, what makes you say it'll be Canadian? I have a few Maple Leafs sitting around, some holograms and some regular. All are quite high quality (kudos, RCM) and I have wanted to send one in just to see how they'd do over there at PCGS. Hmm, now that I think about it I hope it IS Canadian!

How can a Canadian coin be submitted under the Regular service? Shouldn't it have to go in under the World service?

Did you see this one on Heritage?

I didn't know that Canada struck dollars out of charcoal.

Greg, they don't anymore. That was a failed attempt by the RCM to cut down on costs - what with charcoal being so soft, their dies would last a lot longer. Turns out the public didn't like them because rather than dulling down from circulation, rub would actually show up as shiny spots.

I have an 1857 Bank of Canada half cent that I sure hope will qualify. Technically, I guess it is a token, but was the accepted currency of the region. Pretty cool EF. I love the reverse. It has two cornucopias, a folded Union Jack, a peace pipe, an anchor, and crossed swords. The obverse is St.George slaying a dragon. Not worth slabbing unless the slab is free, but a very cool coin.image

  • I am going to submit the next canadian coin I get in change just to annoy PCGS. Does anyone actually care about Canada?

I thought the Canadians cared about the french. Well, half of them. The other half cares are the British.

Nah, it's the Québécois who care about France.

  • Canadians are super people! They were very generous and nice to our travelers who got diverted or stuck there after 9/11. Canada is a huge and beautiful country. I highly recommend a summer vacation to the Rockies.

Now, I have a nicely toned, uncirculated modern ('67) dollar I'd like to slab. How do I go about getting it done for free?

Write “ Free Coin for Quarter” on the submission form.

Remember this is only for Gold or Platinum Collectors Club Members.

When does this quarter's free submission end (i.e. what is the deadline)?

    jan 1st-march 31st.
That it's a canadian coin has not been offically posted anywhere.
  • shirohniichanshirohniichan Posts: 4,992 ✭✭✭
In that case I'll hold off on rejoining until it's been made official.
