J.H. Exceptional / Heritage

I am new to the forum but wanted to ask if anyone has ever bought a J.H. exceptional gold coin from Heritage and ever got a higher grade when resubmitted to NGC or PCGS ?image

  • KRJB - welcome to the boards.

I've seen a few JH Exceptional coins. These tend generally to be strong for the grade with good eye appeal, but you can bet your bottom dollar if anyone at Heritage had an inkling that any coin would get a better grade than the one assigned, they would send it in themselves - can't blame them - that's just how it goes.

I purchased one coin that they called PQ (not JH Exceptional). I thought the coin was average for the grade at best - which is what I was expecting.

Given the number of coins listed as JH Exceptional, I would have a hard time believing they are much better than average for the grade.

Also, one of the selling points for Heritage consignors if the fact they have several ex-PCGS/NGC graders on staff so they can spot a crackout candidate. You know if the money if there, it has likely been cracked out.

While some of the coins that are classified as JH exceptional, I've seen a few that were anything but exceptional.
