Answer needed on PVC free flips/storage

Word is out that more 70's are forth coming..
For 3 years I have been looking and holding for this to happen..
but when I got out several boxes of coins and carefully studied them
I found traces of PVC on them..This was not there when I carefully put
them away and marked them 70 prospects....
CALLED ALL MFG'S OF PVC FLIPS AND RECEIVED ABOUT THE SAME ANSWER!
"Without some PVC the flips would be brittle and break when folded"

We ruled out stapled 2x2's and used CoinTangs on some that were OK,but
low cost was a consideration.Coins in mint packaging still looks OK,but once the pack
is broken and choce coin or 2 removed the rest are exposed...

What choices do we have?????????????????????????????????????????????????

Thanks,Gary

ET Kointainer SAFLIPS. 100% PVC free. The people who told you they all have to have PVC were wrong. But, the flips are brittle when compared to the regular vinyl ones - but they don't break.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but acetone soaks will remove PVC if it is not too late. And you can get saflips which are PVC free.

The flips used were CoinTainer PVC Free and sold by a board member, but was unable to talk to company about PVC

,but did talk to seller and was told about the same thing. The coins were deep frosted Proof's and it was

easy to see the PVC in the dark fields..

You can order non-PVC flips from PCGS (10% for members).

For long term storage - air-tites

    I don't think a PR70DC that took an acetone bath isn't a PR70DC anymore. IMHO

  • For non slabbed coins, I use PVC-free Saflips. I then use a flip sealer to seal off the half holding the coin which both adds a measure of protection and keeps the coins from sliding around too much. I then use my printer to print out info slips to place into the other half.
I bought the flip sealer and get Saflips from Amos. Just enter Saflip in the search box.
I did buy a different brand a few years ago that had a problem cracking, but thus far no problems with these.
