last question for a while

Is this one of the real ones? I saw the word copy on the pic but i don't have any of the real ones so maybe they do have that on them. Anyway if it is a real one the prices seem to be dropping since last year.

I've emailed the seller, advising them to shut down the auction, email the bidders, and relist with a proper heading and description.

    We'll see what she does.

thanks for the link ara, i didn't think it looked right. I'm not in the market to buy one but the price looked cheap so i checked it out and saw that someone is going to be sad when they get this - edit ROUND.

I hate replicas and clones, especially rounds that mimic US coins. It really is a deception to the
    novice public.

"VERY NICE COIN WILL TAKE MONEY ORDERS ONLY" sorry but i don't think they are going to take your e-mail seriously, i hope they do but...

He's lying!!!, A coin has to be legal tender. The Hobby Protection Act can be used against him.
It has to be designated as a round!!!!!!!!!.

I have also sent an email to the seller, pointing out that the word "copy" on the silver round means just that! We shall see........image

ouch, ened at $102.50 anyone going to e-mail the winner and tell them not to send payment?

Seller with (0) feedback rating, only takes money orders, sure looks bad for Rusty1652. Just wondering if anyone in the forum has dealt with Rusty1652. Looks like he buys and sells on eBay. I have a feeling that once the money order is in the mail, it is gone forever. image

I have just sent an email to the high bidder, letting him know I sent and received no reply to an email asking the seller if they knew the picture they had up was of a silver round and not a proof coin. Mentioned he might want to contact the seller before sending payment, to clear up any 'misunderstanding'. No accusations were made, to either party (it could have been a mistake), I just pointed out that the picture depicted was not what the auction title claimed and they needed to talk.
If everyone here was to contact only 1 person they knew were being scammed, or notified ebay about a single violation they were aware of, this world would be a little safer place.image

Maybe the kentucky woman didn't have a scanner so she borrowed a picture with COPY on it...............
I'd sure pass this auction by.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • I agree with you guys on the item should always be described correctly.
But I also think that if the buyer is to blind to see the WORD (COPY) On the coin, then let him,her learn a leason...
Emailing bidders on ebay is also a violation...

I'm sure this person is running a scam, But there is a clear pic. of the coin with the Word (COPY) on it..
Good job,Hadleyday & Dog97 your the only one that brought that up that I read...

Just received an email from the high bidder. The seller, if you can believe this, is threatening him with neg. feedback if he doesn't pay her anyways. And yes, she knows it's a copy! He will go through safeharbour and all should come out well.
Flyingeagle57- emailing bidders on ebay for solicitation purposes is a violation of ebay policy. This was not solicitation!

I hope it all works out for the high bidder. did you happen to ask why they bid that high on a copy?

I'd sure take the neg. rather than get taken for $100.00. Besides he would sure have a good response to it. "Seller tried to sell copy of real coin, called her on it but she still wanted payment. Total SCAM and CON artist." Or words to that effect.

Hi mbbiker. The high bidder did not realize it was a silver round, he thought they were minted that way as a 'copy' of the 5 cent nickel. Perhaps a neg. with a reply would have looked good on the sellers feedback, but it will be handed over to ebay's safe harbour, which is now the proper forum for this. Thank you mbbiker for bringing this one up!

If I were the high bidder I would respond to the seller's threats of negative feedback with the promise of a negative feedback to them as well. I think a -1 feedback would look worse to others than feedback of 156 positive with 1 negative. Do you suppose the seller has a return policy? I would venture to say no.
