Sometimes I just don't get it. (2, POP 1 Slabs)

Did you ever get a coin back from PCGS, look at the grade and say to youself What in the heck was I thinking??? Well, I have had a bunch of those when I started doing modern proof sets. You know the PR66s, PR65s, PR64s and even a PR63 or two. What do you do with these slabs, list them on E-Bay and maybe get a buck or two at the most. So I saved them up, and put 62 of the doggies on E-Bay. I figured, maybe I get $100 (lick my grading wounds, and life goes on). But look how the auction is doing.

Linky to 62 crappy slabs

Like I said, sometimes I just don't get it.... But I'm happy....image

  • Hey Marty - maybe you should look KINCOIN up and get some pointers from him on the junk market image
  • Yups. I think I have good days and bad days just like anybody else. They say the tv camera puts on ten pounds, so owning the coin must put on 2 grades. image

Live and learn, besides your auction is doin much better than the 100 bucks you thought image

    Got Morgan?

Man, I ought to ask you to sell some of my low end slabs!
  • Well at 10 bucks a slab that's over $600.00. Its a bargain if you are buying the plastic, as so many like to say around here. Granted they are not high grade coins, but for kids to play with its a cheap deal at 350.00.

Don't laugh, two of the coins 1972-S PR65DCAM Lincoln and a 1971-S PR64CAM Nickel are both POP 1 coins!!! There are many others that are in the lowest pops for proofs.

    Marty,

I'm not surprised. Matter of fact, I've a hunch the batch will probably go for about $100 to $150 more by auction close. I predict $450 to $500 at the bell.

  • Around the Texas/Oklahoma flea markets, slabs such as these typically sell quickly in the $10 to $20 range. At school fund raisers, $25 per coin is not uncommon.

Closed at $585. God, you guys are good. The best part is that ony one of these coins sold as a single might fetch a buck or two... $9.43 a slab. Not bad. Maybe we should take all those crap slabs we all have and have one big sale on E-Bay!!! image

I usually list these type slabs on eBay one at a time and get $3-$6 each. I'm going to try this bulk lot next time.

OK, I just finished writing up an auction for 40 slabs (along with over 100 other auctions). I'm going to see if I have the same luck as you and get someone to take the entire lot for a nice price.

BTW, I basically stole your auction description. imageimageimage
