Is there a shelf life on "dip"?

I'm not a big "dipper", but every now and then..........I just realized my jar of dip has been with me for quite some time. How often should "dip" be rotated, if at all?

I actually agree with you, but there are those instances when it is needed! I've had the same jar of EZ-est for a couple of years now. The stuff has to be bad by now. I haven't opened the jar in a year, so I don't even know what's going on in there.
I didn't know if the stuff went bad, just hanging around. I mean it must sit in a warehouse for a spell before it goes anywhere.
    Anyone?
Maybe I'll give the manufacturer a buzz.

    BigD5,

There really isn't a shelf life, but there are a couple things to watch out for. One is that some jars stupidly have a tin foil type seal. If left on and the jar is moved and the solution splashes against the seal it will start eating it and pollute the dip. The other is that when the dip gets old, particulates form and sink to the bottom.

BigD5- Also, kind of related to your shelf life question is the fact DIP/Jeweluster should be replaced if copper was used in it. Once a copper coin has been dipped, silver or nickel should never be dipped in the same solution.

I know dip also get "dirty" from use so I'd imagine, as cheap as it is to buy, I'd replace it after 50 or so coins.
That brings up a question though: is it safe to simply dispose of down your sewer pipes?

Well, I don't submerse the coin directly into the jar. I put some dip solution in a glass, then go from there. No foil either. I'll call the manufacturer

"Does acid spoil?" I guess that's my question Ray. I'm not a science major.

Dip will remain good, nearly indefinately....and tossing it out after 50 coins is pure waste. We have dip at the shop and go through a jar once every six months to a year, and find ourselves using it frequently.
