My New '57-D Franklin ~ MS66 FBL

The latest addition to my Franklin family. image

1957-D Graded MS66 FBL by ICG.

No, I did not pay MS66 money for this one, I Got a great deal on it.

This one will be sent to PCGS, I just haven't decided if I will try to cross it or crack it out.

  • The marks on Franklin's face - are those scuffs or are they toning blotches?

I think they are toning blotches.I'd crack it out myself.

  • Frank,

    They are toning blotches.

  • Jmoore - right next to the corner of the mouth - maybe an 1/8th of an inch in on the cheek? What is that?

  • Frank, this might help.

I can't find any marks in the fields.

I still see this as a solid 6.

JMoore- Super nice find! I just bought another date ICG 65FBL that has that same reverse, but with brilliant burnt orange & canary yellow. Your obverse definitely has mine beat. I would definitely crack it out when going to PCGS. They can say what they want about crossovers and I refuse to believe it. The percentages are not even comparable. Eveyone I know is having 3 to 4 times as many successful crosses when the coins are cracked out vs. crossover. It is not coincidence. They're just lying.
  • I agree with DCAM - crack it out and send it raw - better chances of getting a higher grade I think. Anyway - as I mentioned on the PM - beautiful coin. Depending on the severity of those "ticks" and how well they're hidden by the toning it can either go MS65 or MS66FBL.

  • Thanks for the comments.

I believe that I will crack it out before I send it in.

    Thanks
