YOU guys have great looking bust half and other bust coins.

I have had one for over a year now just been kinda sitting on it. Its a 50c its from 1835 i know thats pretty comon, but I like it. Iit comes no where close to what all of yours looks like. Mine was probally cleaned a couple of hunderd times. You know what I dont really care I only have 1 other bust piece. Its also is 1835 half dime that looks like it was plowed the liberty is gone (thats where it looks like was hit by a plow(the farm kind)) Say what you must Im giving you the premission to let the bashing begin.

Does sitting on it make it tone faster?

You know what Byron? I think collecting should be about just that - getting the stuff that you find neat - no matter what the price or what other people think. So cosider yourself slapped and keep enjoying your nifty half image

You want to talk about cleaned? dpoole (who lives in the same city as me) had a friend approach him about reviewing an old collection that was put together in the mid-60's to early 70's. They were looking for some advice on the value. We rolled up our sleeves and did find about 5 bust halves, a couple bust quarters and a bunch of bust half dimes., along with all sorts of interesting later stuff Condition wise, several were AU+ and even some better dates.

But our hearts sank to look at them. They had been scrubbed and polished to the point they looked like shiny new hubcaps. Serious brillo pad treatment. It was a crying shame. Yours looks completely original to me after looking at those "blazers" last night.

Nice coin - I like it!

    Byron,

Be proud of what you have, and enjoy it as much as you can. Don't worry about what others have; there'll always be someone else with more or better than what you have.
