It was a good day today for most of the dealers who showed up. Some canceled due to being afraid of weather they thought was going to come our way (and didn't!). Gold coins & bullion, proof & mint sets and collector coins in general were selling well. Several dealers said they sold more today than they expected for the entire 3 days.

Here is my update. It was a very nice show. There were about 25 dealers. They all seemed to be selling very well. Some were even buying.I saw them buying bulk silver and some gold peices. There was an auction with some slabs(PCGS,NGC,ACG,SEGS,& PCI) there was also quite a few raw coins.Large assortment of different coins(colonial & modern).I saw at least (50) bidders.I did buy an ACG 1954 PR68 RD Lincoln.image I know, but I'm desperate to finish my Registry Set.I'll crack it out and send it to PCGS,then pray a lot.image
I met Tootawl and Puskin from this board.Again It was a real pleasure meeting members of this board. All the people that I have met from this forum have been great people and true collectors.I would be honored to call any of them friends.
There was one other thing I wanted to mention. The Auctioneer brought what was labeled,a 1922 no "D" Lincoln to me.I looked at it for him.IMHO it wasn't the rare No "D" variety. It was IMHO a 1922 weak "D" that had been altered. There was a small gouge where the weak "D" should have been. There was some other gouges above the date to make it seem like they were all the same.I'm sorry to say I didn't watch that part of the auction.I did tell him, when he auctions that coin not to say that it was the No "D" variety.
Kudos to Michael Dixon for putting on a great show !!!!

Mike Dixon is a fine, honest dealer. Truly one of the 'good guys' in the biz.

The cat caught a St. Bernard last night, and after eating it for supper, was too stuffed and tired to get up for the show today.image

Was great meeting Michael and Don. I want to thank Don for showing me some of his fabulous Lincoln's and sharing his knowledge, Don is a great guy!image.

Michael put a a super show, the best "small" show I ever attended - everybody seemed to feel very comfortable and "right at home". Well thought-out and well-organized.image

The show had a lot more dealers and attendees than the last one held at the county fairgrounds. Michael, I hope you have it at the same place next time. You made a good point concerning the restrooms in the new place versus the county fairgrounds!

I didn't leave empty handed. I got a real good start on my second set of raw SAEs, fourth overall set of SAEs. I already have a full set of raw SAEs, one full set NGC MS69s, and a set of Proof SAEs in original packaging (3 shy of a full set, working on it!). There's something about Silver American Eagles that I just fell in love with. I also walked away with a few nickels for my "poor-man's" Type Set.

One of the more interesting parts of the day was when I had a hands-on lesson on Lincolns from the man himself, Merz2. Don showed me the 22 "plain" Lincoln that he mentioned earlier. He then showed me why he thought it was a weak D instead of a plain. He described what I was looking for, backing it up with pictures in one of his many books. Sure enough, with a 10x loupe, I did see the mark he talked about. Thanks for the lesson Don! I'm glad to see you posting here again. Don't let one butthead ruin things for the rest of us.

The only thing I missed was the opportunity to meet Pushkin. Hopefully at another time.

Mike and Don, I've decided not to wait until Baltimore to send in the gold toned Kennedy proof to PCGS. I'll be taking your advice and send in the whole 1980 proof set in sometime this week. I'll let ya know what grades I get.

    Flying56Eagle,
You don't have to wait until next year! The next show is May 2nd, 3rd and 4th of this year! The dealers who attended this weekend's show have agreed to come back and have already submitted their table applications. For May, we should actually have 100 tables full.
