looking for psa boxes

Hi fellow collectors and happy new year!

Does anyone know where I could purchase some type of plastic or cardboard boxes to store psa holders?

Any help or leads would be appreciated.

Call PSA's toll free # at 1-800-325-1121 and they can help you with the storage box order. Last time I ordered the black cardboard boxes, I questioned the seemingly high postage charges (about $22-$24 to ship 30 empty boxes) and PSA customer service knocked 20% off my order. It eased the transaction. As I remember the cardcoard boxes were $5 each. I only use these boxes when I complete a set or for a special group of cards. Otherwise, I just store the rest of my slabs in the brown shipping boxes that my PSA orders come back in. It works out pretty well.

    Hope that helps....

  • I use the black cardboard boxes also. They are much better for a large number of cards than the plastic ones. The cardboard boxes hold about 62 standard PSA cards. The boxes are $5 apiece, and the shipping is high. I ordered 20 boxes, and the shipping was over $40. They came in 2 days though, and since I knew about the shipping, I was Ok with it.

They came in 2 boxes, and when I opened the first, I saw that they were the plastic ones. I didn't have any use for them. I called customer service, and a very nice lady helped me. It took her about 15 minutes to find the order. Once she found it, she said that since it was their mistake, she would have 20 cardboard boxes sent out right away. I asked her what to do with the plastic ones, and she said I could just keep them. I offered to send them back if the PO would take them, and she said that was fine if I wanted to, but I didn't have to. I was very pleased with the customer service.

I gave the large box of 15 plastic boxes back to my mailman marked refused. He couldn't take the smaller box because it had been opened. It took two more weeks for the next package to arrive. This one had 15 cardboard boxes in it, and a note saying exchanged for the returned 15 plastic boxes. Now I have 15 cardboard boxes, and 5 plastic ones that I don't want. I haven't called back to customer service, because I think the hassle will be much greater than the 5 cardboard boxes is worth. In any case, it is a case of great customer service turned not so good.

Getting back to the topic, you can do a search of these boards, and find this topic discussed many times. Some guys use modified standard card boxes. Some guys make their own. Even though $5 plus $2 shipping is high for a cardboard box, the actual cost is miniscule compared to the value of the cards, and I find them by far the best solution.

  • I've heard of people using the BCW Super Vault Box. Holds 75-80 slabs and $2.75 each if you order 10 or more. I've been thinking of buying some for myself but always get side tracked.

Good thought too. I had forgotten about them.

Board member Frank Smith (Late70'sTopps) showed me his the other day. It's a two piece box and top...Pretty nice for a bunch of cards. There is a shorter and taller version, depending if you want the tops of the holders to show out the top or not....

Ive ordered the Super Vault Boxes in the past and they are top-notch. There are two styles: one where the label sticks out of the box and the lid sits on top of them...or where the entire slab fits in the box (the kind I have).

  • If you only need one, I have an extra one. Now that I've dumped most of my PSA cards (in exchange for raw ones), I don't need the 1 I have. It'll probably be tough to ship it though. I'm not sure if I have a box for it. I'd just ask you to cover the cost of s/h. If you need bulk, just call PSA as the others have mentioned.

  • Is there an error on that BCW advertising page or am I misunderstanding the information?

It seems like the vault box and the super vault box have the exact same dimensions for width and length, with the only difference being the height of the box (to cover or not cover the top of the slab).

Why then is the capacity of the vault box 30-35 cards, when the super vault box holds 75-80?

Good question Cubfan....I have no idea why there is a difference.

  • I have one supervault box, and it works well. The only reason I don't like it is that it is so long that I have to put it sideways on my shelf which makes it harder to get out. The price for quantities is very nice though.
