Dave, I say crack that puppy asap.

Russ, awesome slab collection...the way it should be. You should post that image to the "favorite slab" thread.

Dave, I don't see enough frosting on Washington's face or bust to warrant a cameo designation sorry.

Why crack? If you think it's a cameo (which I don't, but that's off a scan) then send it in for designation review - it's cheaper and there's no chance of downgrade.

I agree with the rest.I don't see enough Cameo for the CAM designation. Are you going to send it to PCGS ? I send it to them as is.Because of the statements by David Hall on the crossover rate. Before now I'd have said crack it out.

Are we suppose to send the labels to PCGS? I usually just throw everything in the trash. Does PCGS pay for the old slabs?

    NumisEd,

Not that the pop reports are even close to accurate, but if you send them in, PCGS will adjust the pops.

  • image No Dave I wouldnt do it. I dont break many out, but if I do, I always send the labels back. Lots of people dont though, thats why I am buying gold coins which are real thin on pop, if they can be had at a bargain. Buy them now, dont wait until the line is at the door.

    Dheath,

Will they at least pay for the postage? I guess that I shouldn't complain and just send the labels back in, considering PCGS pays for this great site.

    NumisEd,

I've never asked that question. I'd just stick them in a submission. It's a good question though.

  • Hey Russ, do you crack out the overgraded ones? If not, what do you do with them?

    WSM,

I just crack them for fun. Has nothing to do with grades.

To crack or not? Hmmm....seems to me if you are NOT going to sell it why crack and regrade? I mean, who cares (other than yourself) what the grade is? Why spend the money grading when you can buy more coins?

Now, if you intend to sell AND if you think it warrents an upgrade, go for it!

Dave, proof Washingtons is a series that I collect and based on the scan provided, Mark is correct, not enough frost. NGC is still tough on that designation. I don't see PCGS giving this coin a cameo designation either.
