I am planning on sending my Mercs to PCGs so I can upload them to my Registry set. No matter what they grade...
Here is my 38D:
The Obverse is very clean, and this coin is super shiny, it just doesn't show in the scan. No niks in Lady Libertys face and good detail in the wing..
The Reverse is also clean and nik free, and very shiny. I don't believe the split in the bands is strong enough for the designation. I am hoping for a ms65, maybe sneek into a 6.
This 39d is also very shiny, however you can see in the scan some problems on the cheek. When you look at the coin it isn't as exagerated as the scan is. The fields on this coin are clean and this one also has good detail in the wing.
A very clean Reverse with no niks, possible FSB, but I think it is also to weak for the desgination. I'm calling this one a ms64.
These are the 1st two I'll submitt along with some Frankies and some Roosies.........

You might be suprised on the 38D. From the Scan the coin looks real nice. Bands and all,I see no problems with that coin. The 39D.....Hmmm .. if that is just luster breaks you will be alright getting it into a 64 Slab. If some of that is hits well it would be a crap shoot as what will happen. Just opinions as it is almost impossible to grade from scans. The normal disclouser if I miss by 6 or 7 points.

When I first read the heading of the thread, you said grade your jewels, I could wait to open this thread...lol
I tend to side with Ken on this one as well, the 38D (from the photo's) it looks like a sure 65...strech to 66. But the 39, a 64...But I wish for the maximum for you. It still amazes me to find nice dates like that. Keep us informed.

I agree with Ken, especially about the FB designation for your 38-D. Those bands sure look fully split to me.
The 39-D looks rough on the check, but you say the coin looks better in person. You might be a touch optimistic about the coin, but then again, you can actually see it.
In any case, GOOD LUCK!
Mark
I think the 38-d is a top end 65 maybe a 66 depends on the graders mood
and should also get the fb.
I would have to see the other one in person to give a good guess
