Here's my coin. The pictures make it look much better than it really is! The coin has been bent and smashed back into shape at one time. Who will challenge me on this? wallstreetman let the contest begin!image mike image

I think it is those who purchased a coffee coaster shaped like an 1877 cent without realizing that it is not actually US currency.

I showed this coin to an ANACS grader at the show I bought it at and he said it was real. You know with a big purchase like this I had to be sureimage. mike
      • We will have to let Sandy or Carol be the judge! I know Sandy saw the coin, Im not sure about Carol, the coin got passed around at LongBeach. Most agreed it looked like it was a 77, if that tells you anything! Sandy, do you post here? Carol, can you ask Sandy about it if you didnt see it?

      • I saw one the other day at the Coin Chest in San Bernardino, Ca. He wanted $70, I passed when I saw the coin was street textured, it would have beat both of us!

I got this one for about $75 I think? Anyways when I took this coin out of my old indian penny book I decided to search them for repunched dates and I found several! I never really cared to much about repunched dates in the past and it's been years since I looked at this book of culls and other problem coins. Nothing valuable but it made the afternoon fun. mike image

        That's actually a pretty nice cull, I can't imagine it winning though I can't
        "top" it.

A friend once assembled a remarkable set of indians for the dreamers
who came into his shop and wanted to sell a valuable coin whose date
required a little imagination to see. It was a complete indian set where
every date looked like it was probably the right one for the hole, but wear
or damage made it impossible to be sure. He'd then "offer" it to the cust-
omer at an impossibly low price for a complete indian set. The '77 was a
real standout. I'm almost sure it was a '77 and it certainly didn't look as
        nice as your coin.
