Pricing the grading companies

I was curious how the people who submit feel about the grading service's prices and expected turnaround times. The item that gets me thinking is the following fee schedule from PCGS and NGC:

PCGS:
Economy Service $15/coin
For non-gold coins valued at $300 or less. Coins are completed in approximately 30 business days. U.S. Coins only.

Modern Service $10/coin
For any U.S. coins dated from 1965 to the present. 30 business days officially.

NGC:
Modern $11/coin
30 Working Days. All US coins 1955 to date valued at $300 or less each. Five (5) coin minimum.

Economy $15/coin
21 Working Days. Each coin valued at $300 or less. All non-gold US/World coins, gold World coins under $300, and all modern issue gold (minted 1980’s to date) under $300 per coin. Five (5) coin minimum.

I have to say that NGC's turnaround per dollar looks better and the modern date range seems more reasonable. When you look at the cost of grading, what are your determining factors?

I should note that the PCGS pricing is based on Gold Collector's Club level. Silver is different (more expensive) and I do not know what dealer breaks exist.

One must factor in the daily spot price for plastic. Yesterday's spot at the close of business was $0.23 per metric ton.

NWCS - I don't think PCGS "Silver" is more expensive, it's just that you are strictly limited to one or two service levels. You can't even get regrade or reholder, or any of the higher-cost "Express" services.

Silver is $30 for pre-65 coins and $12 for 65-date. I do not know how they work the deals for dealers. I know my dealer pays less than the gold member's but not sure if other dealers pay a different amount from that.

My determining factor is what I want done. I will send my cherry picker varities to NGC since they will designate them. I am going to send some of my lower grade/problem errors to NCS as they only charge $6 a coin.

Thanks singapore. I just wish that the riddler felt the same way.
