Suisse Credit 1 oz. Gold Bar Grading?

Does PGCS grade Suisse Credit 1 oz. Gold bars or at least encapsulate them for their protection?

Happy New Year!!!

    wow a great thread!!!!!!

i am sure they would not grade the bar

    and most probably would not
    slab it either

    at this current time.............................

    sincerely michael

i wonder if it would even fit in a slab?

i bet if there was a promotion or discovery/newsworthy event surrounding some of these bars and they did fit into holders i bet they would be slabbed

some of the central america? gold nuggets were slabbed in pcgs/collectors universe holders?

  • michael,

    Great thread? Thanks.

Actually I did see some on eBay that were recovered from the World Trade Center slabbed by PCGS with a special label with a flag saying they were recovered from the WTC. But this might be because they were special. Here, I found the auction with a photo:

They come slabbed in a registered credit card when you buy them. The bar is sealed in a plastic type case and the whole thing is inserted into its registration card assayed and ready to go.

    Justin,

    You like them too?

I have been wearing one as a pendant for on a 22" baht chain for a few years now; a "tradition" I picked up in the Far East. I never thought of it other than a piece of jewelry - never even considered slabbing it. Like Mr. Kelso said, when purchased, they are registered and sealed "originally" - if it isn't, you're dealing with a middleman.

If they are out of the original packaging, many bullion dealers will only pay 24K price which is less than an original bar sealed. Same goes for a miss-handled Maple, Panda, etc.
The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

    Got quoins?

I happened to have a few dozen that i haven't taken to the vault yet
Here is what they look like when you buy them. Slabbed and ready to go.
This is the rev of the slab.
    Hope this helps

  • Well I have some also. They are carded, not plastic slabbed.

One of these in the Teletrade sale tonight (1668) is bringing $660 at the present. A hefty premium to melt.

  • How does the credit and reputation of Suisse Credit gold compare to, let's say, American Gold Eagles or widely recognized bars? I'm not familiar with Suisse Credit gold, perhaps someone can throw a little education my way along with their comparison opinions.

    Thanks in advance,

The only thing i can tell you at this point is that over the years i have never had a problem buying or selling any of the Suisse or Englehardt products. Some years back i sold some Gold to buy a house and as i looked over the buy back invoice i did notice that the South African Krug's gave me a little less of a price then the bars did. Oh yes i do stand corrected they are carded and i was saying they are slabbed.
