I find textile patterns on coins exceptionally intriguing. To have stayed completely motionless in the bag for so long!
The 1885-O linked below is a little dark until you hit it with a light, and then- BOOM!

I look at almost every Morgan on ebay and I see your bids on a few every now & again. That's a real nice textile you posted. Really cool I like it!
I don't have anything like that, I go for the weird stuff. I got a partial set of weird toned Morgans over in the NGC Set Registry. Here's one of my favorites I have a quick lint to: the "Combo:" Text Enlarge it for a good look.

WHen you said textile you weren't kidding. Very unusual to get complete coverage like that. Looks clean too. It's awesome even in the picture, I can only imagine what it looks like in person. Show us more!

Hello FC57. This coin is from the Binion collection, and is in an NGC ms63 holder. Not really sure why the grade, perhaps it was too dark for the grader. The reverse is blast white and 65 all day long. I will be cracking this puppy out (eventually) and resubmitting it to either PCGS or NGC. Kind of ironic, since a lot of the Binions I have seen are overgraded! It was purchased at one of the recent Long Beach shows.
Here's an 1886-P ms65 in a first generation holder that I posted in an earlier thread, but really belongs here! It has a really cool pattern down the middle, probably from resting against a seam in the bag. BTW, I need to resubmit this one as well, I worry about the old NGC holders and continued toning from the insert!

Yes it is an 83-O, it started out as IGC 65 but now is an NGC 63. The scan is as accurate as the 86 NGC 64 album toned piece you bought from me off ebay two weeks ago.

Oh, I didn't realize that was you selling the 86. COOL! That was a good pict you had in your listing and I'm really happy & like the coin and in real life it looks better than your pictures. I thought the tone might be dark & thick & subdued but the blue periph and the purple centers on both the rev & obv are just great with nice luster too.

I am glad you liked it, I have another piece just like it except the color is a little brighter with the best tone being on the obverse this time instead of the reverse. I bought these two as a pair in 1987 from an elderly gentlemen and was told they have been together in an album since the 1920's with the piece you bought displayed reverse side up and the piece I have displayed obverse side up.

Hey cool history. I'll put that in my NGC Reg Set descripition. Funny thing, when I put it in my set it replaced a periph toned 86 PCGS 64 DMPL and dropped my set my 135 points.

Aren't textile toned Morgans highly sought after in the Morgan/toned crowd in MS and consequently command a subsantial premium?

Hi Bruce, I really don't remember. I thought I knew which one I bought from you but the more I thought about it the less sure I was that it was the same piece. I think it was a piece that was toned mostly blue on the reverse but can't be certain. Well since I posted to this thread again figured I better put up another textile piece.

What a terrific looking "textile" Morgan. Wonderful example. These are quite scarce; especially with the surface nearly fully textiled. GREAT example.
