Misprint Dime?

I have had a dime in my possesion for quite some time that appears to be a misprint to me. Is anyone familiar with any dime misprints? The dime is a 1973 and is missing the US in E PLU RIB USU NUM. It does not appear to be from damage as the dime shows no scars or damage in the area and the U that follows is not damage and is right next to the missing letters. Just curious if anyone else has heard or seen anything like this?

Probably from over-polishing of the die, or maybe grease in the die. It is an error thatis worth maybe $1.00 retail.

Most likely it is a die fill (grease filling the area where the design element was) error which is very common. But if you can post a picture for us, we'll get a better idea what to tell you.

Letters in E Pluribus Unum missing on all of the 1971 to 1975 dime issues are very common.
They actually got a little attention at the time. You can find almost all the letters missing in
an array of patterns. They're fun to collect but probably have little potential for appreciation.

    ...and welcome aboard.

  • Can anyone give me a quick direction on getting a picture posted. I can scan in the dime pretty easy I'm sure.

    Thanks, Cory

You have to upload your scans from your computer to a site on the web somewhere. Then you can link that page with your coin on it to this thread.Others can give details on linking.Good luck and welcome to the forums.
